MaGIC Launches MasSIVE to Help Drive Systemic Change in the Social Sector

In July 2017, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) launched an initiative to give recognition to enterprises that are driven to leave a positive impact onto society. They do this by accrediting these enterprises as Impact Driven Enterprises (IDE) through the Impact Driven Enterprises Accreditation (IDEA).

It is with that idea that the MaSSIVE (short for Malaysia’s Social Inclusion and Vibrant Entrepreneurship) movement was born. MaSSIVE aims to be a movement that builds coalitions of programmes aimed at IDEs to improve ease of access, forge collaborations between key stakeholders to accelerate industry growth, and help ignite policy changes to further ensure inclusion. These are key in helping the nation fulfil its national goal of enhancing inclusiveness towards an equitable society.

As such, on 8th of February, MaGIC hosted the MaSSIVE Impact Day in Cyberjaya with a focus on five pillars; Inspire, Educate, Connect, Accelerate and Fund. All five pillars are aimed at nurturing an ecosystem where IDEs will thrive further and be connected to other stakeholders to boost their potential to be sustainable.

Partnering with iM4U, AIM, myHarapan, Girls in Tech, eFM and ngohub.asia, MaSSIVE Impact Day included interactive booths, marketplaces, demos and exhibitions to showcase some of the best of Malaysian IDEs. In addition to that, engagement, mentoring, coaching and consultation sessions also took place with hopes of propelling all key players into a brand-new reality of successful Malaysian IDEs.

“We are excited to launch our first ever MaSSIVE Impact Day to provide a convenient space for entrepreneurs, corporates, NGOs and the public sector as well as the general public together and participate in collaborative initiatives that can create social and economic impact. We encourage everyone who takes part in MaSSIVE Impact Day to explore funding and social procurement opportunities, as well as how to create a business that is impact driven”, said Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, the CEO of MaGIC on the day.

With strong support from the government, particularly from the Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Abdul Razak and Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar, the Chairman of MaGIC as well as Secretary-General of Treasury of Malaysia, it is certain that MaSSIVE will provide a paradigm shift for Impact-Driven Enterprises and their success.
